Easing of restrictions for Perth and Peel

Public health measures in Perth and Peel will ease from 6am, Tuesday 4 January, based on the latest health advice and low number of local community cases.

Public health measures that will be eased from 6am, Tuesday 4 January

The following activities can resume/reopen:

  • Standing consumption of food and drink
  • Dancing
  • Music festivals
  • Major events
  • Nightclubs

Measures that are in place until 6pm, Friday 7 January

Mask wearing

Masks will remain mandatory in the following settings:

  • All indoor public venues
  • On public transport, taxis and rideshare services
  • Major outdoor events and outdoor music festivals.

Anyone who has been in Perth and Peel since December 16 and enters another regional area is required to wear a mask as per requirements in Perth-Peel.

Ongoing proof of vaccination requirements

Proof of vaccination requirements for the following venues:

  • Nightclubs
  • Music festivals and major events (above 500 people)
  • Pubs, taverns, hotels (hospitality) and Special Facility Licenses with a capacity of more than 500 people or these specific licensed venues that trade after midnight
  • Events with an Occasional Liquor Licence
  • The Crown gaming floor.

People will be required to show proof of their COVID-19 vaccination, either in a digital or paper-based form, along with approved identification. See the Proof of COVID-19 vaccinations page for more information.

Both venues and patrons will have a shared responsibility when it comes to proof of vaccination, with venues required to take reasonable steps to ensure all patrons are double dose vaccinated, or exempt.

The WA Government is developing a mobile app that is safe, secure and convenient. The app will be available next week and more information will be provided soon.

Travel to remote Aboriginal communities

Remains restricted.

Additional advice for all people in WA

  • Continue registering contact details at businesses and venues where contact registers are mandatory – the SafeWA app is an efficient and safe way to do this.
  • Keep checking the list of exposure sites and follow the testing and isolation advice if you have visited an exposure site
  • Get tested for COVID-19 if you begin to feel unwell or develop symptoms.
  • Ensure you are vaccinated against COVID-19, and get your third dose if you are eligible.
